Christopher Popham Smith Citizen for President of the United States
The American people are disenchanted by, and feel disenfranchised from the "old boys' club in Congress and our inept political system. Senators Clinton, McCain and Obama are members of this club. If the Democrats reach the White House there will be higher taxes and new taxes to support their programs. They will undoubtedly flip flop on their promise to get us out of Iraq, disallowing any revenues from benefitting America.

If a Republican achieves that high office, we will be in Iraq (according to Sen. McCain)  for at least 10 years and he's prepared to see us there for upwards of 100 years!  The DoD estimates 4200 fatalities thus far and a conservative estimate of $2.5 trillion spent on an ungrateful and corrupt Middle Eastern Nation for 10 years? Who will pay for this? That's right---you, your children and your children's children. Let us put an end to the lies, the promises, and the hyperbole. We must face the issues of this great nation once and for all, head on, together, as one strong family of 300 million people. If America truly desires the kind of constructive change to which we are entitled, then consider a write-in vote for Christopher Popham Smith on November 4th, 2008.

One 35 year vision, One Citizen Offering A Voice For Change, One United States Of America.

To Friends, Colleagues and Supporters:

For 35 years I have been strategizing and planning my Presidential campaign.

In the last 10 months, I have made 5 trips in my car all over this great country, meeting with hard working, family oriented, patriotic American citizens who are disenchanted with and feel disenfranchised from the political arena. I have a vision for America-----a vision that thousands of people from Massachusetts to California share with me. They like my positions on restoring the economy, Iraq, immigration, taxation and abortion, but especially the urgency to upset or totally change a corrupt two-party political system that has dominated our country for 150 years and dragged it down to where we find ourselves today.   See: www.popham08.com .

The budget deficit is now at $9.4 trillion. We spend $12 billion a month in Iraq alone. There are 823 American occupied military bases in forty countries around the world. There are homeless veterans on the streets of Washington, D.C. within 500 yards of the White House. The cost of a gallon of gasoline is at soaring record highs. Our infrastructure is a national disgrace. Our children, the future of America, deserve a better educational system. Emergency personnel: fire, police, nurses, EMT’s. and social workers, and particularly teachers, are due increased salaries, proper pensions and benefits. How can we ask these devoted public servants to perform their jobs without fair and equitable recompense?

In short, we need to focus our attention on the United States of America and its family of 300+ million people-----300 million people who only want five things: food in their kitchen cabinets, peace, prosperity, happiness and above all, security for this nation And families deserve recreation without incurring debt.

Not one of the proposed programs or promises presented by the three senators vying for the Oval Office can be accomplished without drastically reducing our global military presence. Some of the billions that we spend overseas must be spent in America---now. We must begin to withdraw substantial numbers of troops from all theaters of operation, provided that it does not jeopardize our national security. At this critical time in history, we, as true Americans, have an obligation to preserve and protect our country. The standard, the map and the guide are written in the Declaration of Independence, the Bill of Rights and the Constitution of the United States of America. We must preserve and protect America at all costs.

My travels of late take me on excursions to debates and speeches with other independent/third party candidates. Our third conference takes place at Mt. Rushmore, S.D.  June 7th & 8th, and on July 4th we plan on one million people in Washington, D.C. There is an ever increasing independent movement in America today. Americans will know that there is a viable alternative to the current state of affairs.

During interviews on the streets in N.Y.C. April 18th (see: Nancy Hanks-CitiVote) people were asked if they thought every American, had the right to vote for whomever they wanted. The answer was yes.  Yes. However that is not the case. In fact, you, as an American citizen, in a supposed democratic society, are not free to vote for your candidate of choice in far too many states. Independent/third party candidates are barred from the process. We, as the people can change that. I am asking for your write in vote wherever possible.

Finally, I am now for the very first time, appealing to friends, colleagues and supporters to donate funds to my campaign so that at the very least, I can be a resonant voice for the American people-----to share with them a more open, honest and clear vision to get this country back on the right track.

I am asking for your support today.  Contributions of $25.00, $50.00, $100.00, $1000.00, $2000 or any contribution with which you feel comfortable, will be greatly appreciated either through Paypal on my website: www.popham08.com   or by mail: Christopher Popham Smith Campaign Fund 2008 P.O.Box # 523. 66Charles St. Boston, Ma 02114.

May God Bless America.
Christopher Popham Smith

The Declaration of Independence provides us, as a people, with the right and duty to alter or change our government if it is not serving us according to Constitutional Law.
The past eight years has been a disgraceful and embarrassing exercise in nihilism—total disregard for the laws of the land. America was founded on Democratic principles, but where are they today?

Franklin Delano Roosevelt said to paraphrase: “Never allow the Oval Office and Congress dictate to you the people; never let those two branches of government tell you the people what to do”.
I shall be the people’s President. You tell me what you see as priorities in getting this country back on the right track. I will listen to the majority and I will fully address the issues that you the people dictate to me. That is the true democratic process.

In my opinion, which is equally shared by most Americans, it is time to withdraw from our militaristic ways, our unproductive imperialism and interventions.
The world knows that we, the USA, are the most powerful nation on earth. We no longer need to force our hegemony on rogue nations or countries with rich natural resources. Do we really need to be setting up global defense systems in Poland and Czechoslovakia, much to the chagrin of Russia and China? What is our ultimate purpose in Afghanistan? What do we expect to accomplish in a corrupt and ungrateful country like Iraq?

Our greatest need right now is to concentrate on the United States of America. We must address the domestic issues of healthcare, tax relief for the middle and lower levels of our society, the infrastructure, our school systems and so much more. But, in spite of what the politicians promise, they will not be able to ‘fix’ any of our problems unless they have the money. The budget deficit is $9.4 trillion.
We spend $12 billion a month in Iraq alone. We support 823 American military bases in 40 countries around the world. Unless they are strategic to our national defense/security why not disband most of them? It costs American taxpayers about $338 billion a year for illegal immigration. Some of them are receiving better benefits than our own seniors who have worked hard all their lives. Our treasury is empty and the government keeps borrowing from foreign countries or just prints more $$$. What is going on? Why are our leaders leading us down this very dangerous path? Why since the end of the Second World War has 60% of our GDP gone to pay for only military machinery, arms, munitions, nuclear weapons, military bases, ships, airplanes, tanks. All this, my fellow Americans, has been at great expense to the welfare and productivity of our nation for more than 50 years.

Generations of dedicated Americans have worked too hard and too long for 220 years to allow wars, terrorism and immigration to continue draining our treasury. We have an obligation to re-allocate the wealth of this nation for this nation, not for military imperialism. The people of the United States need help now. We need to devote all of our resources human and natural to the betterment of this country. Work with me as your President and get this country back on the right track so that our people come first for a change, that our international image is improved, that trade imbalances are corrected, that our children and our children’s children will inherit the Constitutional republic founded by our forefathers.

The two-party system and the current administration have dragged this country down over the past 30 years to where we find ourselves today. For the past two years, eight candidates for president have clearly demonstrated their arrogant disdain for this country and the American people. They have lied, spied, deceived and manipulated us. The Americans I have met in my travels are sick of the politicians’ unwillingness to participate in true bi-partisanship for the benefit of America. Politicians clearly underestimate the intelligence of the American people.

This vast madness, this nihilism on the part of the elected officials must end now before it’s too late.
Join me --- help me to govern this great nation, yours and mine, the United States of America. This is your country. Do not let your elected officials, the politicians pull us down any further with their condescending rhetoric, hyperbole and platitudes. We must wake up from our ambivalent dream and take back America for America.

Thank you very much. I remain your candidate for President of the United States.

Christopher Popham Smith.
May God bless America.

INDEPENDENT PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE: MOUNT RUSHMORE- JUNE 7TH-8TH, 2008

  • IRAQ: Of the thousands of people interviewed by me over the past ten months, some 90% expressed consternation over our flawed Iraq policy. Young men and women returning home, having lost limbs or eyes, or worse yet in flag-draped coffins. What are we really there for? – For the security of oil reserves, to settle democracy on a Muslim (Mullah controlled) nation, to maintain peace in the Middle East? MORE
  • ISOLATIONISM: Under no circumstance whatsoever do I subscribe to any degree of isolationism; however, America must now attend to its own interests, to address the important issues that face this country before aggressively forcing our political philosophies, our military and our money onto other countries. That is imperialism and/or hegemony. It is not the American way. MORE
  • IMMIGRATION: You wake up at 2:00 a.m. There is a noise coming from your kitchen. You call the police. If you have a firearm you go to the kitchen and find two men ravenously devouring the food in your refrigerator. MORE
  • GLOBAL WARMING: This planet, perhaps one of trillions, with all its natural resources and beauty was offered up to us millions of years ago. As we evolved, we became the very stewards of Earth. It is, in my humble estimation, the grand experiment to see if various peoples of different origins, backgrounds, races and beliefs can harmoniously live together as a global unit—one planet in a galaxy, within a universe amongst so many galaxies and universes. MORE STATEMENTS ON CURRENT ISSUES OF THIS GREAT NATION

It is with great pride, patriotism and faith in the 300 million people of the United States of America that I declare myself a candidate for President of this great nation.

During three road trips across America (July 16-31, 22 states, 7,000 miles), (September 25-October 12, 28 states, 8,200 miles), Feb.29- March 11th, 2008, 4000 miles) and here in Boston I interviewed several thousand citizens of this great land.

I asked them about their immediate concerns for our country. Mixed in with the horrors of the Middle East were fervent requests to address the major issues that affect this country.

Ninety percent of these hard-working, patriotic Americans told me that they want the United States of America to revisit the basic tenets of our Constitution and Bill of Rights as laid down by our founding fathers 220 years ago. James Madison, our fourth President, was the primary, brilliant author of those documents. We must pay heed to his words. It is our statutory right to govern ourselves. It is called a democracy.
